Street Shopping at Lajpat Nagar and Karol Bagh

Recently I went for street shopping at Lajpat Nagar and Karol Bagh market, both markets are underrated in front of other famous street markets like Janpath and Sarojini. The nearest route for both markets is by metro i.e Karol Bagh metro station and Lajpat Nagar metro station. You can find locations easily on google map so lets get jump to my experiences of shopping in both markets.

First I will talk about my Lajpat Nagar experiences.

Lajpat Nagar

Lajpat Nagar is a big market also called central market. You can either walk from Lajpat Nagar metro station or take rickshaw and auto to reach the market. Earlier it was famous for it's Indian wear i.e lehnga, suits, sarees and other Indian wear but now this market has varieties of western wear, bags, footwear, ethnic and junk jewelleries, home decor and other random stuffs. It has all kind of shops, from branded to non-branded small shops to street shops. Prices are not high but usually fix and shopkeepers are more rigid and stick to their prices and did not give much discount like sarojini but that's not the problem because prices are already low where you did not need to bargain much but a little higher than sarojini and janpath but you don't have to worry much about the defects and things are also much organised. There is very vast variety of Indian wear at every price range, also there is good stock of western wear but not as much as janpath and sarojini, there are also many small shops for footwear and jewellery mostly at fixed rate or with less discount but not heavy on pockets. Lajpat Nagar also has variety of food options i.e, from street food to restaurants to cafes, ram ladoo (street food or a kind of snack) is a famous street food of lajpat nagar. Lajpat Nagar is definitely worth for try, it is not the street shopping heaven but you can sure find some good stuff at low price even if you are not expert in bargaining.

Now it's turn for Karol Bagh market

Karol Bagh

Karol Bagh market is a well known market in Delhi for wedding shopping, branded showrooms and jewelleries but it's street market also has a wide range of western wear, bags, jewelleries, makeup, footwear and other stuff at very low prices. You don't have to walk much to reach the market, just reach the Karol Bagh metro station, went down and voila!! market started. And the first few shops has that much variety of western wear that you don't need much to visit the whole market, you can literally find most of the kind of western wear, kurtis, dupattas, junk jewellery, foot wear, sunglasses, stylish watches, daily wears, mouth watering food and beverage stalls. If you want to buy branded items then Karol Bagh has all kind of branded showroom. This market also has some awesome cosmetics stores where you can find all kind of original makeup of both Indian and International brand at accurate prices without any duty fee or any other hidden and extra coast. There is a shop named Impression where you can literally find every thing related to beauty and skin care of almost every brand and there are products for every pockets and all products are original and specially they had a very wide range of perfumes. Ghaffar market is also there which is one of the biggest electronics market, this market deals in all kind of electronics products, you name it and you will find it here, this market is crowdy especially in the evenings because street market opened properly after 2 pm but it's worth the visit. You don't need to bargain much because prices are mostly fix but very low but you have to show your bargaining skills at some places specially if you are buying sunglasses or watches which are copies of some big brands.
